
Off to a monumental start, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" raced to a staggering lead at the box office over the weekend of July 15-17, 2011.
The Daniel Radcliffe/Emma Watson starring franchise finale delivered a $92.1 million opening day en route to an estimated $163+ million three day opening to beat out previous top earner "Dark Knight," which garnered $158.4 million.
After two weeks in the top spot, Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington Whiteley's action flick "Transfromers: Dark Of the Moon" was bumped into second with an approximate third weekend total of $23.5 million.
Rounding out the top five at the box office were Jennifer Aniston's comedy "Horrible Bosses" ($17.5 million), followed by "Zookeeper" ($12.5 million) and "Cars 2" ($8.2 million).
