Reports were confirmed Friday (December 16) that the singer is <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">engaged to Jason Trawick</a>, her boyfriend of two years and "Criminal" video co-star. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Fans of the pop princess sent their love and congratulatory wishes online shortly after the story surfaced. Everyone loves a comeback, and Britney Spears' fans are no exception. After a rough period in 2007 that included losing custody of her children and an infamous public head-shaving, Spears has spent the past three years getting her life together, and fans have taken notice. <a href="/news/articles/1676167/britney-spears-jason-trawick-engaged-timeline.jhtml"><b>Take a walk down memory lane with this timeline of Britney and Jason's relationship!</b></a> Facebook user Rosanna Principessa Fabbro wrote, "So happy for her. Many of Britney's fans have been listening to her music for almost their entire lives, so news of her engagement felt especially personal for them. @mollypannell1 tweeted, "Is it weird how happy I am for @britneyspears? So cuuute. I still remember when her first video came out. I was 7!" Celebs also took to Twitter to send their love. Ryan Seacrest <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/RyanSeacrest/status/147786909651972096" target="_blank">tweeted</a> his approval of the union, "I used to work w/ Jason Trawick and can't think of a better guy and more perfect match for @BritneySpears. Congrats guys." 'Harry Potter' Leaves Oscars With Nothing But A Tax Joke
Despite being nominated 12 times, the children's series has never won an Academy Award.

The only thing "Harry Potter" got during the Oscars ceremony was a joke from host Billy Crystal saying that, despite how much money the series has made in the box office, it's only had to pay 14 percent in income taxes. It certainly was a poor send-off for one of the most beloved and highest-grossing movie franchises in film history.
The series has never been honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Sunday night's (February 26) three losses — for art direction, makeup and visual effects — brought the total number of losses to 12 for the eight films.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" lost twice to "Hugo" (a fellow children's film) and once to "The Iron Lady." "Harry Potter" leading man Daniel Radcliffe gave his take on the lack of respect for the big-screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's franchise in a recent interview.
"There's a certain amount of snobbery [in the Academy]," Radcliffe said. "It's kind of disheartening. I never thought I'd care. But it would've been nice to have some recognition, just for the hours put in."
He added, "I don't think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids' films, unless they're directed by Martin Scorsese. I was watching 'Hugo' the other day and going, 'Why was this nominated and we're not?' I was slightly miffed."
The Academy didn't even offer "Harry Potter" a series achievement award like the BAFTAs did last year. Some "Potter" fans had expected the series to be rewarded by the Academy for its many years of financial and critical acclaim the same way Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was. Unfortunately, that did not end up being the case.
Despite a lack of love from the Academy, we at MTV News decided to honor the series in this week's edition of Talk Nerdy.

Adam Sandler, "Breaking Dawn" Top 2012 Razzie Nominations
It's certainly not an accomplishment in which he'll be bragging about, as Adam Sandler has set a new record by amassing a hefty eleven nominations for the 32nd Annual Golden Raspberry Awards.
Created to "honor" the worst in movies, the Razzies announced this year's contenders on Saturday night (February 25) with Sandler garnering the numerous bids thanks to his acting in "Jack & Jill" and "Just Go With It" along with a Worst Picture nomination as producer of "Bucky Larson: Born To Be a Star".
Other stars targeted by the Razzie Awards include Katie Holmes, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Nicolas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker and the "Breaking Dawn" trio of Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.
